It was reported in June 2024 that the most exciting news was Ayushmann Khurrana and Kareena Kapoor Khan coming together for a film to be helmed by Meghna Gulzar of “Raazi” fame. Titled reportedly as “Daayra”, the film was based on some real events and was touted to be a hard-hitting drama. But now, recent reports have confirmed that Ayushmann Khurrana has walked out of the project. Here’s a detailed look into what led to this development.
Initial Excitement and Description of the Project
The announcement of the first-time collaboration between Ayushmann Khurrana and Kareena Kapoor Khan raised many eyebrows in the industry. Helming the project was none other than the sensitive and subtle director of sensitive issues, Meghna Gulzar. Sources said that the movie was part of an actual incident which could be really worthy of igniting a national conversation, much on the lines of what Meghna’s last release, “Talvar”, had followed.
A source close to the project reveals, “It is an intense film that requires actors of the stature of Ayushmann and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The duo read the script and were appalled by the facts of the case”. Both the actors were moved by the story and were looking to collaborate for this special film.
