A Glimpse into the Trailer

The 2 minutes 53-second trailer of ‘Emergency‘ opens with a shot of Kangana Ranaut entering her office in a white saree. The plot of this movie has been Indira Gandhi’s journey in politics and her relationship with her father, late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. It has shown how she handled war and took charge. The film will delve primarily into the aftermath of the Indian Emergency from 1975-1977, mainly showing how she introduced a dark time with the Emergency, how she lost confidence in the people.

Social Media Reactions

The trailer has begun trending on all social media. One fan reacted to the trailer, “Kangana Ranaut deserves praise for her dedication to ‘Emergency’.”. She studied Indira Gandhi’s life extensively, did a body transformation, and tried her hand at directing for the very first time. Her passion for telling stories, dedication to finding authenticity, and courage to essay challenging roles make her a true artist. Her hard work will make the film memorable!

” Another fan wrote, “You can hate her, but you can’t ignore her talent.” A third fan commented, “I got goosebumps.”

Not a Biopic but a Political Drama

She has consistently told everybody that this is not a biopic on Indira Gandhi; it is a political drama about the Indian Emergency. Nothing spells confidence for her role, be it through physical transformation or voice modulation with Kangana. While she does pull up a rather bearable performance on her part in the first half, she again resorts to theatrics in the second half when the Emergency actually gets imposed.

Supporting Cast Performances

Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee comes across like a sore thumb. Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan is passable, though we know he is capable of much more. The film also stars Vishak Nair and Milind Soman in major roles.

Direction and Production

‘Emergency’ is directed and produced by Kangana Ranaut. It has been backed by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films. The movie was originally supposed to release last year, the makers had changed the release date to 2024. As the film is gearing up for its final release, the makers release the much-anticipated trailer of the film on social media which has become a serious topic of discussion.

Final Thoughts The trailer of ‘Emergency’ claims the film is high on theatrics and melodrama. Though Kangana Ranaut’s intense and dramatic act as Indira Gandhi seems inseparable, its reception at the box office is yet to be seen. September 6 will decide if the film did justice to the hype set by its trailer.
