The highest-grossing Pakistani film, “The Legend of Maula Jatt”, to be released in Indian theatres on October 2, 2024, is a landmark cinema event. Director Bilal Lashari said very excitedly, “Releasing in India, Punjab on Wednesday, October 2nd! Two years on and it’s still a houseful over the weekends in Pakistan. I’m excited for our Punjabi audience in India to experience the magic of this passion project.” Mahira Khan posted the film’s poster with her Instagram Story saying, “Let’s go.”

On 16 September 2016, following the Uri terror attack, there was a ban on Pakistani artists working in India. But in November 2023, India’s Supreme Court rejected a petition calling for a complete ban on Pakistani performers and workers, allowing this to happen for the first time.
