Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the most prestigious award in Indian cinema, which is distributed every year at National Film Awards. In honor of its name, this symbolic award pays tribute to the father of Indian cinema was first launched in 1969. This prize is awarded for outstanding contributions towards the growth and development of Indian cinema. The prize comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion along with a shawl and ₹ 10 lakh cash award.

Veteran actor-politician Mithun Chakraborty will get India’s most coveted Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2022.
