Often, Saira Banu spews out her love for her late husband on social media.

She posted this heart-wrenching post, uploading a complete set of old photographs from the engagement ceremony. In the post, she quoted a line from her film “Hera Pheri:” “Mohabbat Mein Sawaal Nahin Kiye Jaate, Ke Aapke Jeevan Ke Liye Mujhe Poochha Jaata Hai Kya,” which translates to, “When there are no questions asked about love. True love is founded on blind faith and trust, and all the doubts or questions were dismissed.

Saira mentioned that she had lived with Dilip Kumar from October 2, 1966. She said that all her life, she had never been pressured by him to ask for a reason for anything. At the tides high or low and quiet in between, she loved Dilip Kumar alone without a question. She said that love, in its purest form, is like a pedestal on which everything else can rest, and it frees a person from loads of worries, questions, and expectations.

They stayed together in their Bandra, Mumbai house. In his autobiography “Dilip Kumar: The Substance and the Shadow”, Dilip Kumar wrote that Saira had become pregnant in 1972, but she miscarried by complications after which they never attempted again for a child, believing God’s wish to be so.
