Who Was Kavi Kalash? 

Kavi Kalash, also known as Kalash Dev, was a legendary poet, advisor, and warrior in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s court.

His performance captures the essence of loyalty, courage, and poetic genius, bringing Kavi Kalash’s forgotten legacy back to life 

Kavi Kalash was not just a poet. he actively participated in the Maratha Empire's military and political affairs. 

In 1684, he led a crucial victory against Mughal commander Shahabuddin Khan near Raigad Fort. 

In March 1689, Kavi Kalash and Sambhaji Maharaj were captured by Emperor Aurangzeb in Sangameshwar. 

Even after brutal torture, Kavi Kalash remained fearless and composed a powerful poem mocking Aurangzeb. Enraged, Aurangzeb ordered his tongue to be cut out before executing him. 

His sacrifice is remembered as a symbol of bravery and resistance in Maratha history.
