Deepika Chikhalia was born on April 29, 1965, in Mumbai. She became a household name in India after playing Sita Mata in the iconic TV show Ramayan.
Deepika played Sita, the wife of Lord Ram, in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan. Her graceful performance made her one of the most loved TV actresses. People still remember her for this role
She began her film career in 1983 with the movie Sun Meri Laila, opposite Raj Kiran. Though the movie didn’t do well, it helped her step into the industry.
After Ramayan, Deepika was seen in many other TV serials like Vikram Aur Betaal, Luv Kush, The Sword of Tipu Sultan. She always impressed viewers with her strong acting in traditional and historical roles.
Deepika didn’t limit herself to Hindi entertainment. She also worked in Gujarati movies like Natsamrat (2018), Tamil and Malayalam films. She gained respect in regional cinema for her serious and emotional roles.
In 1991, Deepika joined politics. She was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Baroda constituency in Gujarat. She represented the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
After a long break, Deepika returned to acting in the 2019 Bollywood hit Bala. She played the role of Yami Gautam’s mother and was praised for her performance.
Deepika Chikhalia will always be remembered as the face of Sita Mata on Indian television. She inspired many with her simplicity, strong screen presence, and graceful personality. Her journey from an actress to a Member of Parliament is truly inspiring.
